Flu season is here!

Well it is official. The flu season is here. I think everyone is sick. I'm even sick. I don't think it is the H1N1, but I really feel like crap. It is hard enough to lift my head up off of the pillow. I know there are getting to be quite a few H1N1 cases around town. That is why I made this card. I figured with everyone sick, it would be nice to have some "Get Well" cards. Now I feel like I need a "Get Well" card.
I'm not going to go into too much detail on the card I made. It is made with the Crate Paper Orbit collection. The stamp is the Orbit stamp set. And I'm sure there are other details I should list on the card but my brain has stopped functioning.

Take a Spin - Mojo Monday

This week I have had so many challenges thrown at me.

We just found out on Wednesday that my Brother-in-law has to go for heart surgery in November. He's only 37 years old. And seeing how my dad had died from heart complications, we are all very stressed out. We are probably not as stressed out as my brother-in-law though, who is not taking the news very well. I am hoping that the surgery goes well for him. I am hoping that I can go out to Manitoba and help my sister out when he does have the surgery.
And of course, I have my regular stresses with the swim club and hockey practises. I find that I am only home to sleep lately. Wade, my DH, even said that he hardly sees me anymore. This weekend, I only have one hockey game in town so hopefully we can do something as a family this weekend.

I did manage to get another Mojo Monday card made in the midst of all my chaos. This is a standard 5 1/2 x 4 1/4 card. The card stock base is from American Crafts Christmas collection; patterned paper: Basic Grey Figgy Pudding Collection; ribbon: Making Memories Passport Collection; stamps: Close To My Heart; sticker: Love Elsie Noel.

As you can tell by the sketch I didn't follow it exactly. I put my own spin on it. I had a hard time with how the sketch was layed out. So I moved thing around a little bit. I really like the results.

Let me know what you think of it. Did I go to far out it left field with this card? Does it follow the sketch design? Let me know.

Thanks for looking. Have a great week.

Mojo Monday October 12

I have finally finished a Mojo Monday. I haven't been able to for a while. I have been completely wrapped up with Swim Club and Hockey. But I did manage to take a day for myself and finish this card.

I love it! I love the colors, I love the pattern, I love the stamping. I can't believe how well it turned out.

Everything is Close to My Heart, except the die cut mittens. Those are from American Crafts, Holiday House. The mittens finished off the card so nicely.
Thanks for looking and don't forget to leave a comment on my blog. Let me know if you liked it or didn't.
Have a great week!!

Lights, Camera, Action

I have been doing tons of videos on YouTube lately. I bought a web cam and it makes putting the videos together so much easier. I have posted quite a few on the Workshop on the Go Program offered by Close to My Heart.

I haven't been doing the Mojo Monday cards lately. I guess you could say I lost my Mojo!! I have found the last few sketches were a little to complex. They are fantastic designs, don't get me wrong, but I look at them and have no idea where to start. Therefore, I have been making a lot of videos to fill my time.

Please be sure to watch some of them. Click on the link below and it will take you to my latest video.

Good Idea Didn't Turn Out

Have you ever had a good idea and in your head it sounded great and you had the whole thing figured out down to every detail. BUT.........when you try to put what you have in your head down on paper it just doesn't work out the way you thought.

That is exactly what happened when I made this card. I was going to uses the sprockets from this stamp set that I have for the circles in the card sketch, but they didn't look very good. So I used the circle punch I have and some of the stickers of sprockets from my Close to My Heart Tinkering collection.

Then I didn't have ribbon to match, then I didn't have the proper diamond die cut I wanted. I was going to used my George and Basic Shapes Cartridge from my Cricut, but I let it to my sister-in-law. So I looked in my other cartridges and found one, but not the one I was looking for. (Your would think for the 28 cartridges I do have there would be a more square diamond shape, but no!)

So needless to say, this card didn't turn out exactly the way I planned in my head. Maybe next weeks Mojo Monday will be a little better for me.

Thanks for listening to my rant, and don't forget to leave a comment on my blog. I love to hear from everyone, both good and bad feedback.

Have a great weekend!!!

Birthday Cake Delicious!

I made a super simple card this week. No it isn't a mojo monday card but that will be coming this week as well. I have added the video to this posting for how I put the card together. There really isn't much to the card but I really like how all of the colors and paper came together.

Don't forget to leave a comment. Thanks and have a great week.

Been Gone Too Long!

Sorry I have been away so long. I have been trying to finish up some very trying weeks with our Swim Club. It seems that my job title gets bigger and bigger as time goes on. Hopefully after we have our executive elections than my plate will get a little less full.

I have returned this week with a new Mojo Monday. I did finish the last 2 weeks as well, but I didn't' get them posted in time. But I finished my card this morning and I am posting it right away. I used the paper pack "Dasher" from Basic Grey. Everything is from the kit other than the string and the brads, which are from Close to My Heart. The cardstock is from an unknown source. It was nothing too fancy for this week. I hope you enjoy anyway. Don't forget to leave me a comment on my blog.
Thanks and have a great week.

Putting Together the Back Country Layout

This is the video for putting together the Back Country Layout from Close to My Heart. It was super easy to put together. It only took me about 1/2 hour after all of the prep work was done. I would say that from start to finish it took me about 1 hour and 1/2 to do. I will post pictures of the other layouts and cards that you get with the Back Country Workshop Guide.

Well my daughters' Swim Club registration night is finally over and I should be able to get life back to normal. HOPEFULLY! I am hoping to return to Mojo Monday next week.

Thanks for watching and have a great week!

New Video!!

This is my first video so I know it isn't perfect but I am proud of myself that I actually did finish it. This is more or less a video introduction and a bit about myself as well as looking at the Close to My Heart Workshop on the Go program. I will also post the video on how to put everything together. Again please leave your comments on my blog if you like what you see.

I unfortunately will not get the Mojo Monday out this week. I have been so wrapped up with getting our Swim Club ready to go for the start of the school year and it has consumed all of my time this week. I will be back on track for next week. I promise.

Back on the Mojo Train

Well I am back doing Mojo Monday. This week I actually knew what I was going to do. I am very pleased with the results.

This weekend I was in Michael's and bought this adorable paper pack. It is from SEI and it is called "Playday." It is absolutely too cute for words. I was going to use the giraffe and the elephant images from the paper, but I found that they were just too big.

The supplies used for this weeks card are of course the SEI Paper Pack, for the patterned paper and some of the card stock. I also used the Core'dinations card stock. The stamps are from Hero Arts as well as Close to My Heart. The Ink is Versamark and Close to My Heart. The scallop circle and the white circle were cut out on my Cricut using the Mini Monograms cartridge. The ribbon is from an unknown source.
Hope you enjoy the card for this Week's Mojo Monday (Episode 101.) Don't forget to leave a comment on my blog.
I am still trying to figure out how to edit a video and what type of software is the best. If you have any suggestions, let me know as well.

My Baby Bros Wedding

I have been so busy lately with my brother's wedding
g that I haven't had time to blog. I'm sure you will under stand when you see some of the pictures.

It was a beautiful wedding. It took place at Crescent Falls close to Jasper. It was so pretty. They had a lot of their pictures takes by the waterfalls which was such nice backdrop for wedding pictures.

They didn't have a
professional photographer, just a few friends with some very expensive cameras. I got in there with my camera as well. I felt like I got quite a few good photographs of them.

We did manage to take a group family photo in amidst all the chaos. There seems to be fewer and fewer time that the whole family is together. Which I find is terribly sad. It seems that life has taken each of our families in different directions and we hardly get to see one another anymore.

My sister and brother-in-law stayed out for a week after the wedding with their kids and we got to spend quite a bit more time together. We got to go to Reynold's Museum (an antique car museum) and the Aviation Hall of Fame. We had my nephew's birthday at our house as well. My sister and I even got to get a few Scrabble games in.

All and all, it was a very good holiday. So as you can see, I never had much time to get in my Mojo Monday cards. I am hoping that the next thing you see on my blog will be a scrap booking page video. I'm not sure how to make a video and post it on the web, but I'm going to give it a try. If I can't figure it out, I will post the directions on how to make it with play by play pictures.

Hope everyone has a great week.

Oh Holidays, Sweet Holidays

I am back from Holidays. It was hard to believe how fast a week goes. It was so much fun. We did a lot of fishing, sight seeing, and we even got to go to the Winnipeg Zoo.

I love going back home. This time was far more exciting, because for the first time I was taking my hubby to my home town. I was very nervous as to what he was going to think of it. He did tell me that he loved being there and that he would like to go back again but for longer next time.

This is a picture of us standing in front to the Sharp tail Grouse of Ashern.

I also have a card for Mojo Monday. I didn't forget about posting that. I don't know if I am rusty from holidays or what but nothing was going my way on this card. I did the best I could. Well here is is.
The card stock is from SEI and unknown. The glossy paper is from Ranger. The patterned paper is from Bo Bunny and Karen Foster. The stamps are from Stampscapes and the ink is from StazOn. The brads are from Close to My Heart and the ribbon is from unknown.
I also used Ranger liquid Pearls to add a bit of shine to the brown card stock. I'm kind of regretting doing that. I think it was better before.
Anyways, let me know what you think of it. Both good and bad. Have an awesome week.

Mojo Monday

Well, this is the card for the week courtesy of Mojo Monday. I can honestly say that this one was a tricky one. It even kept me up at night thinking about how I was going to lay everything out or the paper that I was going to use. Finally, I just told myself pick your favorite piece of paper and go with it. I can say that I am happy with how it turned out.

I used the same Crate Paper pack as I did last week. (I would have to say that it is one of my more favorite paper packs now. The card base is from a source unkown. The stamps, ribbon, ink and brads are all from Close to My Heart.

I won't be doing any Mojo Monday for next week. I am off on holidays to go visit my sister. It will be the first time I am taking my hubby out to where I grew up. We have only been together for 4 years. (I guess better late, than never.)

Don't forget to leave your comments on my blog, both good and bad.

My first blog post

This is my first blog post!!! Yay, for me!!! I have joined the blogging revolution.
I am hoping to bring videos and pictures of cardmaking, scrapbooking and anything crafty to my blog. I am open to opinions and would love feedback.
This is the card I made for Mojo Monday. It is a standard 5 1/2 x 4 1/4 card. The card base is kraft cardstock from Stampin' Up. All of the other paper is from Crate Paper. The brads and ribbon (yes it is there, it just got covered up by all the paper.) is from Close to my heart. The sentiment and flower are the die cuts that are offered in the Crate paper pack. I also added a hemp bow to the flower. (I got this from Walmart, not sure who makes it.)
Let me know what you think! Both positive and negative! Have an awesome week!!!
